Christians have a secret power that is quietly waiting to be used in a greater way in the workplace. When you consciously activate the power you bring in you everyday to work, your co-workers, administrators and work environment will be transformed.
Here are two ways to show your power at work without causing a power struggle:
Christians have the power to solve a problem by reasoning and calculations. You may be thinking, how is that different than a non-believer? The difference between you and possibly the person next to you at work is that you’re not limited to your natural abilities to calculate and reason. Everyday you actively engage the Holy Spirit. As your secret weapon, the Holy Spirit empowers you; teaching you the way to go and guides you in all truth about the work you do. Your wisdom to accomplish things others would see as challenging or impossible comes from God within, not from external stimulus. Your education, skills, experiences, etc., are empowered by the Holy Spirit and wisdom of God, not vice versa.
An example of seeing yourself as a problem solver is by restoring something back to life. Currently, the financial and mortgage industry is suffering because of the increase of foreclosures and other financial pressures. If you are in this industry, you have an excellent opportunity to restore credibility and stabilization to this industry through your company? Your actions can be as simple as restoring your specific job title to a new level of respect, honor, productivity and performance within your company. Isn’t it time your work world got a correct opinion of God’s purpose for those in your position at work? Engage the power of the Holy Spirit and freely access the wisdom of God to change your work world.
Christians have the power to influence others. The truth is you’re influencing people whether you stand for Christ or not. Someone is always watching and forming an opinion about you and whom you say you serve. Here’s a note about the ‘who you’re serving part.” Most people don’t really care or take real notice until you say, ‘you serve Christ.’ Why? Because you serve the opposite of whom they serve (consciously or unconsciously). Opposites attract. Opposites also want to draw you to their side. The people you work with are really looking and perhaps hoping they will see something different in people, like you, at work. Will you be the difference?
A very easy way to be the difference is to engage the Holy Spirit. Show the compassion, love and power of God to transform lives by allowing the fruit of the Holy Spirit to flow through you. How many do you know at work who would turn away someone freely showing love, joy, peace, patience, faith, gentleness, kindness and self control?
Something to keep in mind: Your actions speak louder than words. Your consistent actions scream louder than anything else. Use your power to solve problems and influence others to change your work world for Christ.
