Oh, Lamb of God, Thou Worthy Lamb
That cleanses man from sin,
The only one that can remove
The wicked stains within.
Within the very heart of man
Is endless grief at sin’s command.
The guilt, the shame, the sorrows great,
No mere confession can abate.
How can I live bearing all my shame?
I am not worthy to bear the name
Of a righteous one, that is holy and true –
One created to represent You.
I am unable to pay my debt.
Your righteous quality must be met
To meet the demand of holiness
And live forever in blessedness.
Rescue me, Thou Prince of Peace –
And set my soul at sweet release.
Take my sin and give me grace -
The blessed cross of Your Embrace.
Come to the cross with all its shame
And willingly take on the name
That rightfully is mine with blame.
This cross that bears the judgement true -
This cross now, justly is my due.
Oh, come sweet Lord of Righteousness.
Come bear my soul upon your breast.
Carry me to Calvary;
And there in judgement, set me free –
Free from the awful penalty
Of the judgement due to me.
The Father’s pleased; He told us so –
Through the prophets long ago.
He’s pleased to offer Your soul for mine –
The plan being fulfilled that You had before time.
A rescue sure is all I know,
And with You I’ll safely go
From the judgement of my sin
To the freedom You carry me in.
King of Glory, I’m free in Your loving care;
I’m free to follow You, anywhere.
And, when I follow no more by faith,
I’ll be standing with You, face to face -
With all the plans You have in store -
Within Your presence forevermore.

“But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief;
if He would render Himself as a guilt-offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.”
