An Unending Pain

“Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.” John 19: 32 – 34 KJV

I am unable to watch Jesus hanging on that cruel Cross. I have a dear friend who sends me graphics when I request them, or when she makes a new page. She sent me a notice the other day that she had made a new page, but I didn’t ask her to send it to me. While it is beautiful, I just can not look at my Precious Saviour suffering. I can’t even watch my sister suffer, much less the Saviour of my soul.

These verses tell us that when the soldiers came to Jesus that He was already dead, yet one of the soldiers still pierced His side. We do the same thing to our loved ones and to the world. Our family, loved ones, and friends are already hurting and we just plunge the knife into the wound a little deeper by our harsh critical words, and our unforgiving ways.

Yes, Jesus has an unending pain as He watches us hurt others. He died so that we might know Love, but we choose to ignore the unconditional Love that He has told us to give to others. Many times we think to ourselves, “I’m justified in the way that I feel. After all he hurt me”. Dear friends, if ever anyone was justified feeling hurt, it is my Blessed Saviour!

How long are we going to keep plunging the spear into the Heart of Jesus by our rotten attitudes? How long are we going to keep Jesus hanging on that Cross for us? It’s time that we stop hurting the Heart of Jesus.
