A Tragic Story

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How are thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” Isaiah 14: 12 KJV

This is one of the most heartbreaking stories in the Bible. The verse says that satan was cut down to the ground because he wanted people to worship him. Think about it, satan was in the presence of God and had everything, but lost it all because of his greed.

Several years ago, I asked God to give me a heart of compassion for others. One day as I was reading this story, I started crying and pleading with God to give satan another chance. At that time, I didn’t realize how terrible satan is and how he deceives people. I had failed Jesus so many times and had been forgiven again and again and I wanted satan to be forgiven also. That is when God gave me compassion for people.

We are to pattern ourselves after Jesus. We have a compassionate Saviour. He loves us and forgives us time after time. He doesn’t go get a belt to whip us; He opens His arms a little wider and waits for us to come back to Him.

The next time someone hurts us, let’s open our hearts and arms a little wider and love them back to Jesus. I am convinced the reason why anyone does terrible things is because they don’t feel the love of Jesus.
