Delights of Praying His Words

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 NKJV

I love this verse! This tells me that God’s Words accomplish what God needs them to do! We can’t go wrong using His Words, for we know His Words will accomplish what He pleases!

In fact I wanted to share a little bit of my experience with this verse. But before I do I need to share some background about my husband. I have known my husband for almost 29 years and in all this time he hasn’t taken the best care of himself. He doesn’t like healthy foods, nor does he drink much water. He never eats breakfast and he stays up very late, even on work nights. I have learned to let go the idea of changing him.

Fast forward to present day. The Lord prompted me recently to start praying through Proverbs. The interesting thing is I’m not praying for myself, but for my husband, my two sons, a neighbor, and my boss at work. I haven’t told them I’m praying for them either. I am just faithfully praying through Proverbs each day.

Each day of the month, I turn to that Proverb. I start reading a verse and let the Holy Spirit guide me on how to turn that verse into a prayer for the people I mentioned above.

I was originally taught to pray for specific things that way you can tell when your prayers are answered. But now I’m changing my mind. Why would I pray my words that carry no weight or power when I can pray God’s Words and know that His will is done?

It has been about a month since I started praying this way. Again, without the people I’m praying for even knowing I’m praying for them. Prayers are now quite automatic. Every time I see a Scripture, my mind turns it into a prayer for others. I love it! I feel like I’m being used for His glory! He’s really turning me into a prayer warrior!

Why would simply praying the words from the Bible make me feel like a prayer warrior? Well, it’s all in the results!

Praying for Others

Remember what I told you about my husband earlier? He started drinking water every day now! He now eats fruit, which I’ve never seen him do before! He is also eating something for breakfast before work in the morning. He even started going to bed around the same time I do, sometimes even earlier than me! The most jaw-dropping example is my husband asked me if I wanted take ballroom dancing classes with him! (I always wanted to do this but never told him!) This is simply amazing! I love how God answers the secret prayers of our heart!

Why is this an opportunity for such excitement? It’s because those things are all good for him. It’s what God would want for my husband. It’s what I want for my husband, yet I never prayed specifically for any of these things! Just praying God’s own words caused these changes.

This is something you need to try for yourself. Let God’s word transform the way you pray!

Father God Almighty how gracious and wonderful you are. Thank you for the power in your words alone! Thank you for blessing us with answered prayers. Thank you for teaching us to pray your words. In Jesus’ name Amen.
